So this usually does the trick when I am craving starches or just home cooking.

If you don’t use cast iron pans, I HIGHLY recommend them. I have shopped for years for cookware that lasts. I always wanted nonstick, that is until the Teflon starts chipping off. Then I swapped to stainless steel, which in my opinion almost everything I cook on the stovetop sticks! That’s when I decided to try cast iron. Cleaning them is super easy! They are durable and easy to season. Plus if you like camping, you can throw them in for the trip! This is my FAVORITE brand, totally worth purchasing!

I don’t know if you have tried cooking with 2 ingredient dough yet, but it is a GAME CHANGER! I have a full guide that includes recipes, along with tips and tricks. But just to list a few you can make: bagels, pizza, empanadas, and donuts! Oh yeah, don’t forget to try the cinnamon rolls for only 1 point!!

Weight Watchers Friendly Chicken Pot Pie - 2 Ingredient Dough Recipe (2)

For the 2 ingredient Dough
1/2 cup nonfat Greek yogurt (fa*ge is best)
1/2 cup self-rising flour

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
1 pound cooked, cubed chicken
1 can 98% fat free cream of mushroom soup (10.5oz)
2 small bags frozen vegetables
1/4 cup water

How to Make Weight Watchers Chicken Pot Pie

  1. Preheat oven to 375
  2. Combine yogurt, flour, and garlic powder together in a mixing bowl. Knead by hand until the dough forms a ball.
  3. Roll out onto floured surface into a flat circle for the top of your pot pie. Mine was definitely not a perfect circle.
  4. Cook chicken in skillet until no longer pink.
  5. In a mixing bowl, combined cubed chicken, cream of mushroom soup, frozen veggies, and 1/4 cup water.
  6. Spray casserole dish with non-stick cooking spray. Add chicken mixture.
  7. Top with dough. Bake at 375*F for about 30 minutes or until crust is no longer doughy in the center, checking after 20 minutes to make sure it’s not going to burn. My oven seems to take longer than most people’s ovens so just keep an eye on it. :)

Tips for Making Weight Watchers Chicken Pot Pie

  • Use fa*ge for your 2 Ingredient dough. I have gotten complaints before about dough being too sticky, tasting funny, etc when other kinds have been used.
  • If you don’t feel like cooking your chicken, you can always use can chicken or rotisserie chicken.

FAQs

How do you keep the bottom of a pot pie from getting soggy? ›

A metal pie pan placed on a preheated surface will set the bottom crust quickest; once cooked, the liquids from the filling above won't soak in, and as a result: no soggy bottom. (Using metal is crucial: Glass or ceramic pans don't transfer heat as efficiently, so they can be accomplices to a sad, soggy bottom.)

Why are chicken pot pies so unhealthy? ›

Most of the fat and calories in pot pie comes from that crust. And don't worry, we wouldn't ask you to give up it -- just make some changes. Crusts made with shortening, lard or puff pastry are overloaded with artery-clogging saturated and trans fats.

Are pot pies bad for weight loss? ›

For a typical American adult, each pot pie provides about a third of the maximum amount of fat, a third to half of the cholesterol-raising saturated fat, and a quarter to a third of the sodium recommended for our daily intake. In general, these frozen pot pies are poor choices if you're trying to keep your weight down.

What is the difference between chicken pie and chicken pot pie? ›

In the South, some folks make a distinction between chicken pie and chicken pot pie. Chicken pies, also known as “chicken and pastry,” are the savory versions of fruit pies or cobblers, made with homemade crust and no, or very few, vegetables. Chicken pot pies typically include vegetables and have a top crust only.

Are pot pies bad for diabetics? ›

Sink your teeth into a hearty chicken pie. This healthy pie recipe is so easy to make and takes just 35 minutes. High in fibre, diabetes-friendly and so delicious, this will quickly become a family favourite.

How many calories are in one piece of homemade chicken pot pie? ›

On average, an individual portion of a homemade chicken pie contains anywhere from 450 to 600 calories. As long as you burn more calories than you take in, you won't gain weight. Knowing what your food is made from, helps in keeping track of those calories.

Why is my chicken pot pie bland? ›

Add a little more salt and black pepper. Taste to see if it's less bland. Sauteed garlic and onions in oil also add a good flavor. Try adding a squeeze of lemon juice over the chicken before mixing.

Why does my chicken pot pie get watery? ›

A watery potpie may be the result of not cooking the filling for long enough or adding too much liquid to the filling. Another possible reason for the pie being watery is if you add watery vegetables like spinach or green beans to the filling rather than potatoes or carrots, which soak up liquid.

Do pot pies have to have a bottom crust? ›

Can I make chicken pot pie with only 1 top crust? Yes, absolutely. Skip adding the bottom pie dough to the pie dish and when the gravy is done and comes off heat, mix it with the chicken/carrot mixture, and then spoon into ungreased pie dish.

Do pot pies have a bottom? ›

Some pot pie makers choose to ditch the bottom crust and only use a top crust (or a non-crust topping like biscuits). But for a classic pot pie, both a top and bottom crust need to be present.

Do meat pies have a bottom crust? ›

These individual Meat Pies have a buttery crisp top and bottom crust with a delicious filling of ground pork and beef, along with lots of vegetables. They make a delicious lunch or supper with a salad. Great to take along on a picnic. And they also freeze very well.

Does a pie need pastry on the bottom? ›

Some pie fans believe that you have to have a crust on the bottom to call it a proper pie, but sometimes midweek meals call for just a pie lid. Yes, it's controversial, but it's so much quicker than lining a pie dish and blind baking or risking a soggy bottom.
