The moms are coming to Live In The D ❤️ (2024)

May 10, 2023: The Buzz from ‘Live in the D’

From Tati Amare – Mother’s Day is just a few days away and we will be celebrating in a big way!

It’s something we’ve never done before... we’re having all the moms of the Live in the D team members on the show on Friday! This is going to be our opportunity to honor and show appreciation for our own moms, and all the moms and mother-figures out there. You all rock! Moms can sometimes be taken for granted for all that they do and Mother’s Day is the chance to show our gratitude to the extraordinary women who have shown selfless love, guidance, and support, far beyond childhood! Let’s all use this opportunity to express our gratitude for the incredible women in our lives who have helped shape us to who we are today. Join us this Friday to see all the fun we have planned for the show! 🤗

Here’s what we’re talking about today

🌄 How much do you love your state parks and traveling to places in Michigan? There’s a new unique partnership that will allow you to show your pride.

👻 He’s the “ghost with the most” and he’s coming back to the big screen. Are you ready to see this sequel next year?

What’s for breakfast?

🍩 You’ve got to admit there’s nothing like a good donut. The sugar glazed pastry makes you feel like you’re eating a cupcake for breakfast without the heavy frosting. Of course, we all have our favorites. Now, how about trying something different, like a key lime, sour cream old fashion donut. It’s just one of the flavors being made at a new spot in Detroit that’s already gaining a reputation for having some of the best donuts in town. Take a look at what makes them different, and you may understand why they are selling out all the time.

In case you missed it

💍 What did the couple say about going viral? It’s an engagement proposal that has gone viral for it’s simplicity. A note, level with a ring and a single candle. The note is on a torn piece of paper and says, “Will you marry me?” People shared this everywhere because they had opinions, and the couple was surprised. It turns out the fiancés are from Detroit, and our April Morton actually knows the bride to be. So, we had a chance to talk to them about their new found fame, and even having the “Today” show talk about them.

㊙️ Want to learn how to do this? This is Asian Pacific American Heritage Month and all month long we are celebrating by highlighting various contributions and influence of Asian Americans and Pacific Islander Americans to the culture of the U.S.. This week, we had an artist join us in studio to share her work with Japanese Calligraphy. Her art is on display right now in Metro Detroit, and she even teaches classes on how to do the artistic form of writing. She shared a quick lesson with the Live In The D crew when she joined us in studio, and one person nailed it.

From our sponsors and partners

⛳ The sun is out, the trees are in bloom, and the greens are green. Golf season is in full swing, and did you know that you can find several courses all over the area thanks to our sponsor Huron Clinton Metroparks? I’m talking about seven different golf courses. Also, they’re not just places to play, they also can help you improve your golf game whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned scratch golfer. Michelle Oliver headed out to one local course to check out the experience.

🛋️ Here’s your chance to do something special for a first responder in your life. We’ve teamed up with our partners Gardner White for the First 4 You sweepstakes. You have a chance to nominate a first responder who you think deserves a brand new sectional from Gardner White. All you have to do is let us know why they deserve to be chosen. You can fill out the nomination by clicking here. And, if you want to check what the sectional will look like and how it could make a difference in their home, check out what Gardner White had to show us.

Just for fun

🤣 This one is a two-parter. First, have you heard of the show “Jury Duty”? It’s all about a guy who thinks he’s on an actual jury, in an actual case, and it’s all being documented by cameras. But, he’s the only real person and everyone else is an actor. You have to see the trailer here and then you’ll understand why this commercial with Ryan Reynolds is so funny.
