What is a daiquiri?

A classic daiquiri consists of white rum, lime juice and simple syrup, which is shaken with ice and strained into a chilled co*cktail glass.

A really good daiquiri with fresh lime juice and homemade simple syrup isn't anything like the artificially colored, syrupy, overly sweet co*cktail you've probably had at most bars and restaurants. It's the perfect balance of sweet, tart/acidic and alcoholic.

A frozen daiquiri is made with the same ingredients (rum, lime, simple syrup), plus frozen fruit and sometimes ice.

This frozen raspberry daiquiri is made with frozen raspberries, rum, lime, simple syrup or agave and a splash of raspberry liqueur (Chambord) for extra delicious raspberry flavor!

Why we love this recipe

This raspberry daiquiri recipe is simple, incredibly easy to make and perfect for any skill level.

Since it's made in a blender, it's the perfect party co*cktail. Keep the ingredients on hand and throw a big batch together in less than 5 minutes whenever you need a refill!

This recipe can also be easily customized with a variety of fruit combinations, liqueurs, simple syrup flavors, infused rum, etc. It can be as simple or as fancy as you'd like!

Most importantly, it's SO. GOOD. This is my ideal summer Friday night co*cktail, preferably with tacos and homemade guacamole!

Here are the key ingredients you'll need to make this frozen raspberry daiquiri:

Ingredient Notes

  • Rum: white rum is traditional for a daiquiri. White rum isn't nearly as strong or spiced as dark rum, making it a great choice for co*cktails and mixed drinks. We love using Plantation Rum (pictured above), which tastes fantastic in this daiquiri.
  • Lime juice: freshly squeezed is ALWAYS best in co*cktails. Avoid using the stuff that comes in a can or bottle, which always contains preservatives and never tastes nearly as good and tart as fresh.
  • Agave: simple syrup is traditional in a raspberry daiquiri, but if you're making it from scratch this recipe takes a bit longer. To speed up the recipe, we often replace simple syrup with agave syrup, which is a perfect 1:1 substitute!
  • Chambord: this is technically an optional ingredient, but highly encouraged! It really takes this raspberry daiquiri to the next level. You could also use orange liqueur, like Triple Sec, Cointreau or Grand Marnier.
  • Frozen raspberries: frozen are essential here for a frozen daiquiri. We don't like to add any ice, which waters down the co*cktail and makes it less flavorful.

Instructions

These frozen raspberry daiquiris really couldn't be any easier to make. Ready?

Add everything to a blender. Blend on high speed until smooth.

Yep, that's it!

The daiquiri should have a texture similar to a smoothie. (Keep it away from the kids – they might mistake it for a fruity, kid-friendly drink!) If it's having trouble blending, let the frozen raspberries thaw for a few minutes.

Expert Tips

  • Kick up the flavor of this raspberry daiquiri with the addition of homemade infused rum! Check out this post for instructions on how to infuse rum (and other liquors) with various ingredients. My favorite is pineapple-infused rum.
  • We don't suggest making this co*cktail ahead of time, as it needs to stay frozen. However, you can always measure out the ingredients ahead of time for super quick assembly when you're ready to serve!
  • Substitutions: you can easily sub frozen raspberries with another frozen fruit, or combine a few different fruits for your own tropical creation. A few of my favorites: raspberry + strawberry or raspberry + mango + pineapple.

How do you make homemade simple syrup?

If you'd prefer simple syrup instead of agave, here's how to make it in just a few minutes:

Combine equal parts water and sugar (we typically use ½ cup of each) in a small saucepan over medium heat. Bring to a low simmer and stir until the sugar is dissolved. Remove from heat and let cool before using.

How strong is a daiquiri?

This raspberry daiquiri is definitely not the lightest drink when it comes to alcohol percentage. With both rum and raspberry liqueur, it's a pretty strong drink. One too many can sneak up on you pretty easily, especially since it's so fruity and delicious, so don't overdo it!
