Story

The shelter named me Pumpkin because it was pumpkin season when I came to the shelter. I’m about 16 months young, weigh 12 lbs., am black & tan making me look like a Miniature Pincher, but the shelter says I’m a Chihuahua. My Foster Mom (FM) thinks I’m a mixed breed. I’m spayed, microchipped & of course up-to-date on my vaccinations. I was found on the streets by an Animal Control Officer who saved me from a German Shepherd that had picked me up in its mouth & shook me really hard. The shelter veterinarian checked me out & found I had some puncture wounds & fractures in both hips. I needed care that I couldn’t get at the shelter. My FM, who takes in “medically needy” dogs/puppies, took me in.I was afraid of everything & everyone! I would only allow one nice man to touch/hold me. At my FM’s, I lived in a crate inside an x-pen for several days. After 3 days, I let my FM touch me. I was afraid of anyone who visited & I would bark, growl & try to get away. My FM finally realized I’d be “nice” if visitors gave me GOOD treats while she held me safely in her arms. No icky dry milk bones for me! Give me cheese, hot dogs, chicken, etc. I even like cooked squash. It will take a while for me to get used to new humans & a new home. Please be patient with me. I‘ll sleep in a crate at night if you want, & I’ll wake you in the morning. I rather sleep in your bed & prefer to be UNDER the covers too! I like other dogs & like playing tug-o-war with toys. I’m living with 3 other dogs weighing 30 lbs, 33 lbs & 42 lbs. I like cuddling with them too. Oh! I’m pretty good with potty training, & I know how to use a doggy door!

Story

Hi! I wanted to introduce myself. My name is Mia. I’m 11 years old so I know a lot Hi! I wanted to introduce myself. My name is Mia. I’m 11 years old so I know a lot of stuff! I weigh about 10 lbs. I have no teeth anymore, but that’s okay, because I eat canned and powered dog food and I love it! My hearing is somewhat diminished and I have cataracts, but none of these things stop me. I’m full of energy and ready to go!In-home information: I sit by the door when I need to go potty, so please keep an eye out for me. I’m not a barker like a lot of dogs. I take most things in stride. HOWEVER, Fireworks and being left totally alone are very scary for me so please stay with me. Daily routine: I eat around 7 am and 5 pm every day. I get very excited about eating breakfast and dinner. I spin in circles and play bow. I try to keep my excitement inside, but it’s really hard so I usually make sweet little grunting sounds until you put my food down. I love, love, love food! After I eat, I sit by the door and wait to be seen and then I go potty outside. When I come in, I would like to be with you please. I guess you could call me a “Velcro dog”, because I love being with my people where ever they are. I get very excited when we go for walks. I walk a mile every morning with my foster mom! When I get back from walking, I usually take a nap while my mom is on the computer. She gave me a super soft squishy bed right beside her.Nighttime routine: Again, I eat at 5 pm, sit by the door and wait to be seen, go outside to go potty and then come inside and relax on the couch with my foster mom & dad. About 7 pm we all go upstairs to do our nighttime stuff. I sit with my foster mom and dad in the bathroom while they do all their stuff. I have a special bed in the corner so I can be with them and watch what they’re doing. Afterwards, we all jump into bed and watch TV! I love this time of day. I usually fall asleep until I go outside at 9 pm to go potty and then jump back into bed for the rest of the night. I’m a good sleeper! I sleep all night. Energy level: I am a slow to medium energy little girl. I take naps throughout the day so I can be ready for anything! Oh yeah and I love to roll in the grass and lay in the sun. Shyness: I can be shy at first, but when I know you’re friendly, I relax. I’m good with adults, children that are taught to pet and play gently, small dogs and gentle cats. Kennels: I

I got Ellie in 2013 as a puppy. She had to have a full hip osteotomy in Dec 2013 on her left hip, which has led to her using that leg less but it generally does not cause her problems. She loves being a lap dog and is generally indifferent to other dogs.

Meet Jimmy Choo! Looking for a loyal companion? Look no further! Jimmy Choo, a 7-year-old Chihuahua/Terrier mix, is ready to steal your heart. He's a calm and relaxed guy most of the time, but when playtime rolls around, he transforms into a flying, bouncing ball of fun! Jimmy listens well to commands like sit, no, wait, stop, and down. Plus, he's a pro at staying on his bed until it's cuddle time, then get ready for some sweet kisses! Jimmy adores his humans and craves lap time more than anything else. He's a fan of daily walks and behaves excellently on a leash. Although toys aren't his thing, he loves mingling with other dogs and always respects their space. This perfect little dog is housebroken, with just the occasional 'it's too cold' mishap. But with his charming personality and attentive nature, Jimmy would make an ideal companion for anyone seeking unconditional love. Interested in making Jimmy a part of your family?        **Update** we did not receive the biopsy results that we wanted to hear and unfortunately this amazing boy is joining our Sunset Club. The Dr. has given us an estimate of 4-6 months of quality life left. He needs an Angel hospice Adopter who will give him nothing but love and comfort for the time he has left and when the time comes the proper send off this prince deserves Meet Old Deuteronomy, the wise and witty senior pup who's not letting age define him – because, as he'll tell you, it's just a number! At 10 years young and a dapper 7 lbs, Deut (pronounced Doot) is here to steal your heart and your warm blankets. Currently on a binge-watching spree of Criminal Minds, Deut's the ultimate lap dog, recovering like a champ after having a mass removed and getting neutered. Biopsy results pending (see update above), but this trooper is ready for whatever comes his way. Deut's a ladies' man in his foster home, charming the girls and leaving them in giggles – if only they could talk, right? He's curious about the outside cat but keeps it cool. Ideal for a home with older kids who understand the art of pet respect or a companion for a fellow senior looking for some seasoned snuggles. With a touch of sass, Deuteronomy's got opinions – not a fan of the crate and vocal about his share of the dinner table. Potty trained with a bit of rain-related drama (who can blame him?), he's a calm, treat-loving gentleman. Ready for some wisdom and charm in your life? Old Deuteronomy is your guy! Interested in adopting this fabulous furball? Shoot us an email at beourpet@gmail.com Let's make the golden years even brighter with Deut by your side! #AdoptDeut #AgeIsJustANumber #GoldenYearsWithDeut   GENERAL INFO:   Housebroken?: Yes, we think so Crate Trained?: hates it Leash Trained?: Yes Rides Well in Car?: Yes Non-Shedding?: No Good with cats?: Yes, we think so Good with dogs?: Yes Qualifies for Seniors for Seniors?: yes Umbrella of Hope does not have any strict rules on ages of children because all children are different, but our best approximation is that this animal would do best with children over the age of 5 Umbrella of Hope is an all-volunteer, donation-run, non-profit animal rescue based out of Pittsburg, CA that rescues animals from local shelters, places them in private foster homes, provides them with needed medical care and then finds them new homes.  Also, ask us about our seniors for seniors program, where we adopt animals 5 years or older to qualified homes with a $5 donation as an adoption fee. Story

Meet Moonpie Cookie, our sweet 5-year-old Chihuahua mix looking for her forever home! Moonpie came to us from the San Jose Animal Shelter, and though it took her a few days to trust, she's now a bundle of love waiting to be your shadow.     She may be a bit shy at first, especially when approached from above, but give her some time, and you'll have a loyal companion who adores neck scratches. Once trust is built, all her touches are filled with love.   Moonpie loves playtime, especially with other dogs! It took a few supervised introductions, but now she enjoys a good game of chase on her terms. She's become more active and healthy with two daily walks and controlled kibble portions, shedding some of that extra weight.   This adorable girl is housebroken, great on a leash, and gets super excited at the sight of it! Moonpie is an explorer in the backyard, taking the first five minutes to find the perfect spot to relieve herself.   When it's chill time, she sleeps well in a kennel, or if you prefer, Moonpie is more than happy to cuddle up next to you for a nap or a good night's sleep.     Most of her day is spent burrowed in her blanket or sitting right next to you, just wanting to feel warm and secure. Moonpie is the epitome of a lap dog – an absolute doll that you'll fall in love with instantly.     If you're ready to open your heart and home to Moonpie Cookie, send us an email to beourpet@gmail.com   GENERAL INFO:   Housebroken?: Yes, we think so Crate Trained?: Yes Leash Trained?: Yes Rides Well in Car?: Yes Non-Shedding?: No Good with cats?: Not tested Good with dogs?: Yes Qualifies for Seniors for Seniors?: yes Umbrella of Hope does not have any strict rules on ages of children because all children are different, but our best approximation is that this animal would do best with children over the age of 5 Umbrella of Hope is an all-volunteer, donation-run, non-profit animal rescue based out of Pittsburg, CA that rescues animals from local shelters, places them in private foster homes, provides them with needed medical care and then finds them new homes.  Also, ask us about our seniors for seniors program, where we adopt animals 5 years or older to qualified homes with a $5 donation as an adoption fee.
